I figured, I'm 31 years old, and I've experienced a ton in this life. I've dealt with: death, being broke, being broken, change, struggling to chase down your passion and see it through, insecurity, etc. I used going through my trials in life and getting through them as a checkpoint to a false sense of achievement that left me: complacent, comfortable, stagnant, and just distracted enough in everything else to not be aware of just how much I haven't given myself love over the years.
And in these past 2 months, life definitely let me know it. Life flipped over everything in my life, in a real Rick James fuck yo couch kinda way. It took away the rocks in my life who were a presence on the daily for years, it put me in a stage of complete transition and constant questions, then pushed me out of the car and told me to figure it out on my own.
For those first weeks it sucked. It really really really sucked. But with the unending support, ears, and hearts of a support system I don't think I even deserve to have, I'm finally getting to the point that I'm seeing just how grateful I am for this experience. The ideas and notions this time has pushed me to examine and re-examine has challenged a ton of what I know and thought I knew. It's allowed me to make sure I love and cherish those around me more, it's lit that hunger to hustle and grind, to make some real positive ass change in this world, and give myself some love to myself in the process. It gave me the clean slate to start on this next level in life, armed with the lessons that come from suffering and seeing it through to the other side.
So all in all, I'm pretty thankful that life just slapped me upside the head, and for the therapy I found in creating these tracks while going through it all. LUDGESMUTH
