about

I wrote this on my Dad's what would have been his 65th Birthday on December 3rd, 2011. I was listening to Nujabes "Mystline", and was pretty moved by the flood of thoughts and emotions, so I threw a beat on it, and just went for it right there and then. There's a video to this track that I shot with friend/coworker/director/manofcool Willie Witte. Of course with the help of the Photo Wizard and every day bad ass, Bobby Lee. And of course Brooklyn with the shield! It should be out next week. This one is for Frank The Tank, and anyone that has ever lost a love one cancer. It is my life's goal to always be a representation of him, and a reflection of him, because of how much he loved us and believed in us, and how much he was an example of genuine love, peace, and happiness, when he was facing death.

lyrics

free versin
no rehearsing
only spillin guts
recollect past days
intertwine my pops
as I intersect thoughts
I...in effect pause
seconds invested
in honor of your days
I be the evidence
youressence is alive today
youda turned 65
if you were alive today
it’s the reason
I will never be caught livin idlely
If I said I missed you, no doubt that puts it mildly
crumpled up that cancer, tossed it out and lived lively
from father to a friend
then son into the same
just to have whisked away when i had my mind made
`for sure, you were, to beat that fate,
but i guess, you had to meet your fate
gone too soon but never too late
I’ll say
I’ll lay claim to this island
man on a mission
toss it back to the highest
invigorated optics
ights within my iris
nothing makes me more proud,
when they say i got your likeness
pep in my step and im posing like the heisman
raising me in days, terrible like ivan
spot first blossoms
marigolds in highlands
I hope you know there hasn’t gone a day
I hope you know I haven’t gone astray
I know that you know I’m a man, properly
I know that you know it’s alreadytwice today
your pictures worth a million words
I don’t need captions
even I can see it,
through mirrors my of reaction

alive in my thoughts
personified actions 3X
your legacy next to me...the way they will capture it.
